The Preventicare Program's goal is providing the best possible health care to all horses.  The requirements of the program outlines a management program for optimal health for your horse.  Horse owners can get updates on important equine health care issues by visiting the Preventicare Equine Health Education section.  Preventicare also provides a Colic Assistance Plan for those horses eligible, enrolled and  in compliance with all of the Preventicare requirements.

Program Requirements: PreventiCare requires that enrolling veterinarians provide five basic healthcare requirements for all enrolled horses. These include:
  • Annual physical examination
  • Annual dental examination and any needed care
  • Appropriate immunizations
  • Daily use of Strongid® C or Strongid® C 2X™
  • Twice-yearly use of Quest® or Quest® Plus
Colic Assistance Plan™: Horses that are in compliance with all of PreventiCare’s requirements are eligible for the Colic Assistance Plan (CAP). In a case of colic severe enough to require surgery, Pfizer Animal Health will reimburse the operating surgery clinic up to $5,000 in costs associated with colic surgery and up to three days of aftercare.
